Didn't work out for me (Wireless a complete failure, wired a horrible laggy experience)I bought this IP camera based on the reviews, although it had it's share of negative feedback. However, overall, it looked promising. Well.... after 3 hours of dinking with it, it got returned to Amazon. I AM technically inclined, but getting this camera to work smoothly with my setup( Cradlepoint MBR1000 router and computer wih Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit) was beyond my ability. I never got it to work wirelessly. The webpage would just hang after changing the wireless configurations to work with my router. The router would give it an IP address by the way and the camera would blip in and and out existence on the router's wireless devices list. Even when wired, it was SOOOOO laggy that is was unusable. Anyway, maybe it didn't like Cradlepoint, maybe it didn't like Vista 64 (although I would think this wouldn't be a problem since it works by IP access through Internet Explorer), but after 3 hours of wasted time, I didn't like it! Just my experience for your consideration. Read more...

| Features• Complete indoor digital video security system?easy to install, no new wiring or networking needed • HD-quality video and 130 Degreeswide-angle lens • Free, remote viewing of live video on your computer or smart phone (iPhone, Android or BlackBerry) • Motion-triggered recording and alerts • Windows-based PC needed for set-up and control
Has potential but not reliableWas definitely easy to set up. Camera quality is decent but definitely not a good quality HD no way you'd be able to read a license plate. The Software looks to be the wilife software and not as robust as it should be for a company as big as Logitech who has had this type of product for years. The alerts and motion detection should have rules and more flexibility. When you log in from the remote apps you should be able to turn alerts on or off for each account and camera. Motion detection is sketchy and connecting to live view remotely often gives a C5-3 error. Support has said that the initial setups have strained the system causing the errors but this is a terrible excuse. a security system should always have 0 downtime. Murphy's law says that the events you need recorded will happen during a malfunction or server downtime and there are too many motion detection misses and inability to remote view that the percentage is high. You'll get 10 alerts in an hour where nothing passes through your detect zone and then your kids walk by or the UPS guy walks by and no recording because the motion detect didn't work. This should be fault proof. An innovative company like logitech really needs to have a product like this with truly impressive advancements..... Read more...

The Truth about the Avaak Vue Camera system!I have been watching this wireless system and many others for months now. Other systems you can purchase will connect to internet view sites for free. I have read that these cameras are difficult to setup and fail many times, especially during wireless mode. Most of these wireless cameras need a power supply. I decided on the Avaak Vue system because I did not want to run power supply wiring or cat5 wiring, just too difficult to the locations I wanted. I received the package, followed the easy setup and I had the cameras working in no time. First thing I did was register and set up the 2 cameras on [...]. This is a free site for 1 year and $19.99 for each additional year. That is not a problem for me. Next I dragged the cameras into the setting menu on the web site (just click the setting tab) and drag each camera and you can observe the camera battery level and easily upgrade to the latest firmware. (which I did). You should upgrade. My cameras are setup in a large den and the second camera looking down a hallway into my kitchen (total distance 60 feet) I was impressed with the quality of the video especially under low light. I can easily leave a low level energy saver light on a timer and see the length of my house down the hall through the kitchen. Next I tried to connect from work on the internet. No Problem. I could see my dog relaxing, my wife doing her thing at home etc....VERY COOL! I've only had this system for 3 day now and I'm impressed. You will need a security system with this video system. I will add a SKYLINK or SMARtHOME wireless security system to complete my order. Then my BW and I will be able to receive trouble calls from our security system and use the Avvak Vue system to view the house on a computer or Iphone. If this Avaak Vue camera continues to function this well I will add more cameras. I've own this for 1 week.
UPDATE July 2010:
I ordered another camera and will probably order more! I love this system! I can see these cameras anywhere I can connect to the internet. I looked in on my commuter train to work on a net book using 3g. I can move the cameras easily anywhere in my home, depending on what I want to monitor try that with a powered/ wired camera. My router is in my basement, where the Avaak vue base is connected. I took one camera and placed it in my back yard approx 100ft away from the base, which is again 1 floor down in the basement behind a sheetrock wall and I had a great connection. If you set the camera too far the webpage will tell you that the camera lost connection. Very cool. Avaak Vue gives you controls for brightness, recording , snapshot etc. I'm not interested in recording unless I peek in and see a problem. I just want to see the cameras when my wife and I need to check on our house when we are in the city. Check the negative reviews on this product and many of them have only given 1 review. So that tells me they may not be regular Amazon customers. Bottom line is that this system is designed to work with a good security system, so you can look in to your home or office after you receive a security alarm. I tried to give everyone the demo site that Avaak vue gives you to review the camera video but amazon would not show it. Try http then demo then vuezone then com a dot between demo and com. It will show you the San Diego shore and street. Picture can be viewed 24hrs a day and can give you a good idea of the video quality. Enjoy!
UPDATE AUGUST 2010:
Purchased the AAS 100 wireless security system to work with these cameras. Will comment after a few months/weeks.
